Maintenance Director

Come join us at Mount Carmel Care Center! We are a Faith-Based, Non-Profit, boutique-sized Long-Term Care facility (69 beds), nestled in the heart of the Berkshires. Twice voted "Best of the Berkshires," we are sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm since 2013 and maintain a mission-based environment for our staff and residents.

We are seeking to fill the position of Director of Maintenance

·This is a department-of-one role requiring director-level and maintenance technician-level work.

  • We pay 80% of health insurance premiums.
  • Mount Carmel Care Center is Berkshire County's only faith based skilled nursing facility.

Director of Maintenance Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Engineering and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in a maintenance related position.
  • Familiar with NFPA, Life Safety Requirements in a Nursing Home and public health codes.
  • Experience and knowledge in the function of low-pressure steam boilers, compressors, generators, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, etc. as well as various H.V.A.C., electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required.
  • Healthcare experience is preferred.

Director of Maintenance Job Summary:

  • Responsible for all aspects of building and grounds maintenance.
  • Ensure that the facility's physical plant remains in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Inspect the facility on a regular basis to ensure that the grounds, facility and equipment are maintained.
  • Maintain the heating and cooling units/systems in proper working condition as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Establish an effective preventive maintenance program of cleaning, painting, maintenance of facility equipment.
  • Responsible for the Facility's Emergency Preparedness Plan.
  • Manage monthly fire drills, sprinkler and extinguisher inspections and keep fire alarm systems maintained.
  • Implement emergency generator testing.
